Dragana Perović McFadden
Theatre Outreach and Development
Dragana Perović McFadden has been involved in the arts since she was very young. Born into a theatre family in Belgrade, Serbia she has been part of the theatre scene since early childhood. However, her first foray into arts was through painting for which she was recognized (at age 14) by the United Nations. Soon after that she translated her first radio play and started working in theaters in Serbia. Heavily influenced by her mother and her mother’s artistic circle she embarked on studies of foreign languages and art history hoping to bring foreign literature and art to Belgrade theatre/art scene. After completing her B.A. from the University of Belgrade she moved to United States where she completed an M.A. degree from the University of Maryland.
Dragana has translated Federico Garcia Lorca, Jorge Louis Borges, Víctor Jara , Marcos Anna, D.H. Lawrence, Guy Larsen, Harlod Pinter, Mark Strand and many others in her native language (Serbo-Croatian) as well as Vasko Popa, Rasa Livada, Aleksa Šantic, Dušan Vasiljev etc. into English.
